T wo new eateries are opening for business this weekend in Maple Valley.

Gino’s Bistro and Yum-e Yogurt have been improving their spaces in the Four Corners shopping area for weeks, and both are now ready to open their doors.

In fact, Gino’s Bistro officially hosted diners last night for a soft opening. The restaurant’s grand opening is tonight beginning at 4 p.m. Gino’s is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

The restaurant’s owner, Gino Rivera, is opening his second location in Maple Valley after operating a similar restaurant for about 10 years in Federal Way, where he lives. The Maple Valley restaurant, located in the former Shakey’s Pizza storefront, seats about 100 people and serves homemade Italian and Mediterranean entrees.

Customers also may order martinis and wine at a bar that seats 30, and happy hour is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. until closing, Rivera says.

Yum-e Yogurt, which is located across the highway from Gino’s in the Safeway shopping center, is planning to open around noon tomorrow.

Yum-e Yogurt will feature the Portland-based YoCream brand of frozen yogurt, and the store will offer about 50 toppings, many of them fresh fruit, says local owner Susan Bridges.

My wife and I had dinner at Gino’s on Saturday night. We had a great experience, and plan to return regularly! It’s nice to have a higher scale restaurant in Maple Valley.
