M aple Valley residents tired of driving into Covington for basic shopping are one week away from the opening of Fred Meyer.
The new Fred Meyer at Four Corners will open to the public at 7 a.m. on Thursday, May 24. At 2 p.m. that day, the store will hold a cake cutting, when it will announce $20,000 in contributions to local non-profits, according to spokeswoman Melinda Merrill.
On Wednesday, the day before the store opens, the store will have a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. with Mayor Bill Allison and other local officials.
The new Fred Meyer is the anchor store of the new Maple Valley Town Square retail development. Other stores, restaurants and medical facilities are under construction in the complex and will open at various times throughout the summer.
One additional restaurant that recently signed a lease is Spring Kitchen, which will serve a Vietnamese pho menu, according to Lauren Powell, leasing agent for Powell Development. Spring Kitchen joins other restaurants including a brewpub, a wood-fired pizza place and a gelato shop. Read more HERE.
