Fred Meyer opens to public

T he new Fred Meyer, the anchor store in the new Maple Valley Town Square, has opened to the public — and so have two other businesses in the new development.

At 2 p.m. today, Fred Meyer held a ceremonial cake cutting and announced more than $20,000 in donations to local nonprofits such as the Maple Valley Food Bank.

Standing next to a tower of cupcakes near the store’s front entrance, Maple Valley Mayor Bill Allison (pictured above) officially welcomed Fred Meyer as a sign of positive economic development. To Allison’s left is Maple Valley Store Director Eric Georgia.

Also opening today were a Pet Pros shop in the Fred Meyer building and Chase Bank in its new location. Chase moved out of the Safeway plaza down the street and into a freestanding building in the Town Square development.

The other shops, restaurants and medical offices that have leased space in Town Square are scheduled to open at varying times throughout the summer. Read more about some of them HERE and HERE.

What a neat little blog. It’s great that someone cares enough about this lovely community enough to write about it.
